[James Mitchell Cornett]

James Cornett never did seem to go with the flow of things. And this certainly didn't change anything with FTW. After having advised Harmony the best he could and making his statement the only way he knew how, he decided a visit to Ryan after Lyn got back was probably not the wisest idea. But he had arranged for a training session on 'holy ground'.

Translation: the Manchester Street-Fighting Circuit.

As he hopped around in the ring, rolling around, his blue workout trunks meshed badly with his black fingerless gloves and white boots. James was never one for fashion, but as Ryan could attest, when it came to skill, he was one of the harder ones to beat. His black hair was starting to show signs that the dye was fading, but he didn't care--at that point, his looks mattered little.

Noises were heard at the door, and James turned to see who it was.

[Ryan Matthews]

(He stood outside the door and kicked it a couple more times.)

Matthews: C'mon fucker, open up!

[James Mitchell Cornett]

James looked to the two men holding the door shut. Of them, one was a taller Druid with dark hair, while the other was a lighter-haired hood rat.

"Guys..."

"What?" The smaller one said in a Brooklyn accent. "We jus messing with him..."

"You know wed have let him in sooner..." the taller one spoke in an Arabic tone.

"I don't care...let him in."

The two back away slowly, letting the door open wide.

[Ryan Matthews]

(He walks in the door.)

Matthews: Evening fuckers...

(With that, he kicks the one with the Brooklyn accent in the ballsack with the back of his heel, then smashes an elbow into the face of the one with the Arabic accent. Both wind up on the ground as he continues on.)

Matthews: Let that be a lesson to both of you, don't fuck with Ryan Matthews.

(He pretended to dust his feet off on both of them.)

Matthews: Nice help you have working for you nowadays fucker.

"You know Jason and Lucas...they stick around like lost puppies..."

James rolled out of the ring and walked to Ryan, offering a hand.

"What's up, asshat?"

[Ryan Matthews]

(He shakes the offered hand, then crosses his arms)

Matthews: Same shit, different day. By the way, why the hell did you let me go through with giving a speech at your funeral and everything only to reappear? I know you probably went through this with Harmony but as you can tell, she and I are not exactly on speaking terms right now.

"That seems to be the question of the week. One, Rune was after Jami...faking my death so I could heal from the brain cancer seemed to be the best way to get him to back off. Two--"

"You just looked SO HOT in that suit..." Lucas jumped in.

"Shut up!" Jason yelled. "Some of us don't want to hear it..."

[Ryan Matthews]

(He looks at Lucas for a moment, puzzled, then looks back at James.)

Matthews: And now you've come back here to keep her safe, and to get to face me again...I get it. You picked a bad time to show up, right as I was about to win something that was going to make that largely impossible unless you want your boys here to try to take on Cheap Heat, which honestly I don't think either of you want any part of us after what happened to Malone and Enigma, or should I say what is GOING to happen to at least Malone when I get done with him.

James chuckled as he folded his arms.

"Dude, you're one half of the Tag Team Champions right now...you got more important things to worry about than facing me...although your boy needs to keep his mouth shut if he intends to make it past Behind Enemy Lines."

james smirked, leaning back against the ringpost. Between him and Harmony, shaking hands must not have been a Firm thing.

"Hell, I would settle to take you on at Outrage to make sure your pay per view schedule was clear. But I'm actually wanting to help."

[Ryan Matthews]

(OOC: I already shook his hand, fucker.)

Matthews: Honestly right now the last thing I need is to have somebody else to worry about, so thank you for that. I'm really more worried about getting rid of Nick Malone than anything. And as far as Sam goes, I'll have a talk with him about an apology. I know that may not square things in your eyes, but I don't need you going after my tag team partner before our first defense.

James folded his arms with a bit of an angry look in his eyes. This was hardly how he'd expected this conversation to go.

"Asshat, do you even know who you're talking to? Look at everything I've had to deal with in my past. And you're going to have the gall to tell me to my face that you would 'worry' about me if I got involved in this little war of yours with Malone?"

He went to a nearby couch and sat down, pulling out his Samsung Vibrant (he always did like to be different than everyone else, having T-Mobile while everyone else went for Sprint) and going through his programs.

"You know, you're not exactly in a position to refuse my help at this point. Luke Force has apparently not been heard from since he got my brand of retribution for that little incident at Mason Douglas' office, Lynch is madder than Jesus was at the merchants in the temple when it comes to Magnum, I'm the only one that even knows what's going on in your girl's head at the moment, and at the rate everything has gone, you're going to be lucky if Anstice is even willing to tolerate you at this point. Meanwhile, Jason Angel has apparently come back after his porn run, the blabbermouth Magnum has joined forces with the Saints, Bobby Heart looks to be coming back in a few weeks...by the way, you KNOW he's going to be coming after you once he does...there's rumors that Nathan Black is trying to get into the Saints, and who knows WHAT the hell those two hetero-phobic former champs are up to when it comes to the tag team titles..."

James chuckles a bit, unusual for him until Ryan sees a glint of black in his eyes. But before he can confirm it, James leans back and frowns.

"So what's to prevent me from calling up another buddy of yours and pulling a repeat of the WWA International Championship incident? After all, you obviously don't need a man who has survived more falls and tribulations than Moses on the way to Mount Sinai helping you out against a pathetic bunch of Phinehas wannabes...and with you keeping Jamilyn away despite how the girl feels about you, you're not exactly earning immunity from...'him'."

The last word came from James' mouth with a hint of a clue, as if Ryan should have known who he was talking about. But as long as it had been, it was unclear if Ryan would remember that far back.

[Ryan Matthews]

(Matthews pulls at his hair, sneering as he does, then turns away from JMC for a moment before turning back to him with a look in his eyes that indicated a man who was getting pushed to the breaking point.)

Matthews: Look I don't know what the hell it is with members of your family misconstruing shit that I say so I'm going to make myself PERFECTLY CLEAR. First off, I WELCOME your help against the Saints because right now shit has fallen apart around me. Second, out of RESPECT to you, thinking you were dead, I was not about to TAKE ADVANTAGE of your daughter in the emotional state she was in. She and I have had our talk, and there's an agreement that we're going to turn over a new leaf and start from square one and whatever happens, happens. And that is something that YOU should be alright with, whether or not you LIKE the decision that I made is not something I exactly GIVE A FUCK about. Last, and certainly not least, I am not now, nor have I ever been scared of anything you, or 'he' can bring. Capice?

"Funny...that's not how it was sounding before...you made it sound like you were refusing my help. You of all people should know you have to be specific with me when it comes to things like this. So once I see Jamison, I will ask that I get one match with you, to be determined as you see fit, so you can get your rematch. Until that time, consider me at your disposal."

James smirks and gets up, walking over to Matthews and locking eyes with him.

"I'm warning you now, though...Jami is one instance away from turning out like me right now. She's staying with Harmony so the two can support each other through their trials. And she's crazy about the both of you. You hurt my daughter in any way to cause her to go down that path...and I won't wait for you to finish with Malone. I still have unfinished business with Anstice as it is for what he's done to her...but you have been nothing but a gentleman to her the last few weeks. Don't give me a reason to hate you now."

THIS got Ryan's attention. What exactly was James saying about Anstice? Something didn't seem right here...

[Ryan Matthews]

(He crossed his arms over his chest.)

Matthews: That's not how it works, nobody associated with me is at anyone's "disposal" you're free to wreck havoc as you see fit. If you want to settle things with Sam, which I know you will eventually, you should know all you have to do is name a time and place and he'll be there. Just as long as you at least give me a clue as to what you're about to do so I'm not completely at a loss in case I have to do any kind of damage control with my associates. What I'm basically trying to say is you don't need my permission, nor have you ever.

(He turns his eyes away for a moment)

Matthews: As far as Jamilyn goes, you don't need to worry about anything from me. But you should know ahead of time, her association with me is going to make her a target from Malone. He's just as much out to destroy me as I am him. I get the feeling though if he were to get to her, it'd basically be a race between you and I as to who would get to tear him apart first. And where Harmony is concerned, that subject is best left alone with me right now...I don't take betrayal well.

(He processed stuff for a moment then went back to what James had said.)

Matthews: And as far as Cal goes, I'm not going to get between you two if something goes down.

[James Mitchell Cornett]

James lowered and shook his head.

"Buddy, you still don't get it. But it's not my place to get involved in that whole mess. All I'm going to say is that I get where Harmony's coming from a lot more than you realize."

He typed out a message on his Vibrant as he continued.

"If I don't get you at Outrage, I want him at least. But you know...between you and I...I'd rather Jami be with someone who had treated her with respect from the word go than with someone who has ulterior motives such as Anstice. If you want to be with Jami, you go right ahead. Besides...after the way you handed Nick his ass at Boiling Point, I trust you to be able to protect her the way she needs to be."

This talk about Anstice...it was as if James knew something about Caladbolg that he wasn't sharing at the moment. Now Ryan was beginning to get concerned. But it was also a big moment for JMC to give blessings regarding Jami...he was usually very resistant when it came to who he approved of his little girl dating.

[Ryan Corey]

[From out of the blue, one Ryan Corey enters the room.]

"Not to interrupt, gentlemen, but I wouldn't mind conversing with a potential tag team partner."

[Corey smiles....THAT smile. The smile that lets you know that he knows more than you do.]

[Ryan Matthews]

(He walks over to the nearby wall and leans up against it.)

Matthews: I'm sure with time I'll get what you're saying, right now you'll have to excuse me if my brain is a little bit clouded because of what I saw. And as far as Anstice's ulterior motives, do I even want to know what's going on in the mute's head?

[James Mitchell Cornett]

James turned and smirked. "Nightbringer" Ryan Corey...the man he had looked up to in WWA. The two had never officially crossed paths--by the time JMC was able to be booked in the group, he had been rendered comatose.

"Well well, if it isn't "Nightbringer" Ryan Corey. Now all we need to do is figure out how to get Sam here and we'd have a WWA reunion."

James then turned to Matthews.

"Looks like you might have some upcoming competition for those titles after all..."

"Wait just a minute," Jason stepped forward. "What about us?"

"Yeah, we could use some competition ourselves," Lucas chimed in.

"You two are still under probation for what happened a few years ago, not to mention with the felonies on your record, I doubt FTW would even hire you," James pointed out to the pairing. Lucas pouted and stomped away, with Jason rolling his eyes and going after him. "I swear, those two act like eight-year-olds sometimes..."

James then turned back to Matthews, putting his Vibrant on the table and picking up a replica of the MSFC Transcontinental Championship he had held for so long back in the day.

"Don't you find it funny, Matthews, that with all the money the Cornett Dynasty has in their possession, Anstice didn't seem to want any of it from Jamilyn to train her?"

[Ryan Corey]

"Hello again, James. Good to see if, even if it is under.....well, the only fair word might be strained....circumstances."

[Corey stepped forward to offer the FinalHazard a handshake.]

"You know, I never really thanked you properly for taking in Ethan during the C2W days."

[James Mitchell Cornett]

James gladly shook NRC's hand and nodded.

"Not a problem, man. Anything I can do to help out a fellow legend and friend."

Once the handshake was released, he folded his arms up and looked to Matthews, waiting for a response to his question posed earlier.

[Ryan Matthews]

(He thought about it for another moment, then sighed.)

Matthews: Listen, I don't know what, nor do I care what his motivations are. All I know is that you obviously have a problem with him, and knowing you, you're going to solve it.

(He turns his attention to Ryan Corey for a moment)

Matthews: Long time no see Nightbringer. Sorry to hear that the WWA folded, but I'm definitely glad you kept your ear to the ground, I think you'll find the competition here in FTW to be satisfactory. And as far as you two challenging for the tag titles, that's fine by me, Sam and I could use a good challenge after dusting Enigma and Malone as easily as we did.

[Ryan Corey]

[Corey smiles, offering Matthews a hand as well.]

"It was time. As soon as Eric Dane took over, I knew the writing was on the wall anyway. But when you invest eleven years in something, when something is built on your sweat and your blood, you tend to ride it out till the bitter end."

[Ryan Matthews]

(He shook the offered hand with a smile.)

Matthews: I had heard that Victor Mandrake was in control for awhile as well, and last I knew you and he were gunning for each other pretty hard. How did that end up by the way? I'm hoping you're about to tell me you either killed or hospitalized the bastard.

[Ryan Corey]

[Corey's face darkened at the mention of his bitter, bitter rival....the seven-foot monster known as Victor Mandrake. The history between them was long, and heated.]

[Corey put his right hand over his heart, fingering the quarter-sized scar just above it through his Under Armour shirt.]

"Not yet....Victor's day will come, Ryan. It is, as they say, destiny. There will, one day, be that final cataclysmic match between us....the last one....and I will end the cancer to this business called Victor Mandrake."

[Corey looked at Matthews for a moment, trying to erase the hatred from his mind, but finding himself unable to do so. Mandrake was a touchy subject.]

"Yes, Mandrake ran the alliance for a while. Actually, that is partially my own fault....."

While the two friends were talking, James had gone back to his training, this time at a punching bag. Something kept fueling him to hit harder and harder...until suddenly, with a leaping dropkick, he knocked the bag off of the ceiling and straight into Lucas. As Jason went to check on him, the two WWA alumni stared at James, his eyes now blackened.
